The "Silver Volunteers" movement is developing in Astana
Supporting older residents is not only about providing assistance — it is also about creating opportunities for them to remain active contributors to the city. Astana is developing volunteer initiatives for seniors, including the Silver Volunteer club.
Participants share their experience, knowledge and time, helping others and taking part in community life. For many, volunteering provides an opportunity to remain socially engaged, contribute their skills and continue making a difference.
Volunteer initiatives can also bring different generations together. Older residents contribute professional and life experience, while younger participants gain knowledge and work with them on social initiatives.
Astana’s Active Longevity Centres offer a range of interest clubs alongside educational, sports and creative activities. These include Silver Volunteer, Ataдан балаға аманат, intellectual games, choir groups, gardening and other communities.
This represents a broader approach to active ageing: older residents are not only recipients of social services, but active participants in the life of the capital.
Experience, knowledge and the desire to help have no age limit.
