The first academic year of Qazaq AI Research University has begun in Astana

The first academic year has begun at Qazaq AI Research University (QAIRU) in Astana, a new university focused on artificial intelligence, research and training specialists for the technology-driven economy. The university was presented at Astana Hub.

QAIRU was established as part of Kazakhstan’s national artificial intelligence ecosystem. The university focuses not only on teaching existing technologies, but also on training AI engineers, researchers and technology entrepreneurs capable of developing their own solutions.

Particular attention is given to the practical component: the educational process is designed to combine fundamental knowledge, scientific research, work on industry projects and the development of technology products.

Interest in the new university was evident already at the admissions stage. QAIRU Inflection 2026 received 675 applications, with 149 candidates making it through the selection process. Ten finalists were awarded educational grants to study at the university.

The emergence of such an educational hub in the capital creates new opportunities for young professionals and strengthens Astana’s role as a platform for the development of artificial intelligence, science and technology entrepreneurship.
